RIRS Surgery
Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery (RIRS) treats kidney stones from the inside, without any cut. A thin flexible ureteroscope is passed through the natural urinary passage into the kidney, and the stone is fragmented with a holmium laser.
Who may need RIRS?
Patients with small to medium kidney stones, lower-pole stones, or those for whom a cut is not advisable.
Key benefits
- No incision and no scar
- Usually day-care or a one-night stay
